Even though it is already past the actual anniversary of the publication of Pride and Prejudice, people will be celebrating it for all of 2013. In honor of that celebration and as a tribute to Jane Austen and the 200th Anniversary of the publication of Pride and Prejudice, I will be giving away one of my keepsake commemorative calendars. To be entered in the contest, please leave a comment below stating what scene in Pride and Prejudice is your favorite. The winner will be chosen in a random drawing of all who have left a comment. The contest will run from today, February 28, through midnight, Thursday, March 7, 2013.
Please stop by my website and take a look at the drawings that make up the calendar, JT Originals or to see the complete calendar in a slide show, look at the video below.
I will soon have the theme music playing with my slide show. The lovely Meredith Esparza has agreed to add her musical talents. We can enjoy her piano playing as the pages turn! Thanks, Meredith. I can hardly wait!

My favorite scene has to be when Elizabeth encounters Mr. Darcy unexpectedly at Pemberley. He is so changed and she is so mortified yet taken by the difference in him. I love your work!
ReplyDeleteOh Kara, that is one of my favorite scenes too, if not my favorite. The mortification that they both feel is so well written that we experience it with them.
DeleteGlad you like my work. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
My favorite scene is when Darcy smiles at the very end.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, LOVE the title of this page: More agreeably engaged. It is a brilliant line.
China, I'm thrilled you love the title. I like it when Darcy says that whole line to Caroline in the book. Thought it would be perfect for my blog and what I would be doing here!
DeleteThanks for stopping by and telling of your favorite scene.
Hmm, I have several 'favorite' scenes. The first one is when Elizabeth stomps her foot at the ball calling Darcy 'hateful' man because she couldn't form a fast enough excuse to get out of dancing with him.
ReplyDeleteLovely commemorative calendar and thank you for the giveaway opportunity.
I'm with you on several favorites. The whole book is so good that it lends to many wonderful and favored scenes.
DeleteThank you for your compliment on the calendar. Glad you stopped and entered the giveaway.
Mine has to be the second proposal scene, after Kitty ran off to visit Maria Lucas and unexpectedly left Darcy alone with Lizzy. The poor guy didn't have time to prepare and had little hope of a favorable response, so he blurted out a very unromantic proposal and was surprised by her acceptance. So sweet!
ReplyDeleteBless his heart. He did struggle a bit there didn't he. He just had to get it out and was so rewarded with Lizzy's answer. I love that scene too. That is why it was one that I had to draw from the miniseries.
DeleteThanks so much for stopping by, June, and for entering the giveaway.
Congrats on your beautiful new blog Janet. It matches your fabulous artwork. Best wishes in blogging AND art! LA
ReplyDeleteLaurel Ann, I am honored that you stopped by. Thank you for joining and taking the time to comment. I appreciate so much your kind words and best wishes. I will never pretend to blog on your level but I will have fun and that is what counts. Thanks to you and your Bicentenary Challenge, I was compelled to go ahead and set up the blog for my reviews.
DeleteThanks again.
I like the scene from "The Darcys and the Bingleys" from the evening before the wedding - poor Darcy can't hold his liquor and he is so drunk and yet so excited about his wedding!
ReplyDeleteAnd Poor Bingley and Darcy trapped by mr Collins and mr hurst and their advices about marriage! And thank god for mr Bennet for saving the two bridegrooms!
Congrats on your fantastic blog Janet!
I am thrilled to hear you call my humble blog fantastic! Thank you so much. I am having a great time with it and it was much fun setting up. (after I figured out a little of what I was doing, that is!)
DeleteDarcy and Bingley did have an interesting and funny night before their wedding in Marsha's book didn't they. How wonderful of Mr. Bennet to come to their rescue...just what any good father-in-law to be should do! :)
Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
These sartworks are gorgeous!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite scene is the water scene when darcy and elizabeth meet at pemberley
Thank you! I'm so honored that you like them. I love drawing them and it is about time to get back to work on new drawings.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very good scene in the miniseries, isn't it. I love it too. They both look so surprised and at a loss for words. Everything they were feeling was written all over their faces.
Glad you stopped by.
There are quite a number of favourite scenes which I like. Elizabeth's surprise at encountering Darcy in Pemberley and his changed manners are one of them.
ReplyDeleteI love your calendar and hope you will continue to draw and paint more scenes from the novel.
That is such a lovely scene. It really is hard to pick just one, isn't it. I have enjoyed reading the choices of those of you that have commented. It is always fun to hear what others think.
DeleteI'm happy that you like my calendar. I do plan to continue to do more scenes. I worked so intensely for the last four months of the year that I am taking a break and playing catch up on things I let go. My house was/is a disaster! lol
Thanks for visiting!
I love the unexpected meeting at Pemberley. I also like Mr. Darcy's putdown of Caroline Bingley after Elizabeth leaves Pemberley.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, that put down of Caroline Bingley is awesome! I love it too and it was past due, wasn't it?
DeleteThe unexpected meeting at Pemberley is so well loved for at least two reasons. One being the mortification felt by both that has already been mentioned and the other because it is the first time they are together when 'both' are experiencing an interest in one another. Elizabeth is finally seeing the man he really is and he is becoming the man he wants to be! Wonderful encounter!
I'm honored that you stopped by and commented, Robin.
Well, if the chance of winning this calendar - absolutely lovely artwork! - depends upon my coming up with only one favorite scene from Pride and Prejudice, then I am doomed to never know what day it is unless, of course, one can consider the entire book as "a scene"! My favorite one often seems to change with the day or with what section I am reading at a given moment.
ReplyDeleteRight now, one that hasn't been mentioned is near the end of the book, after Elizabeth and Darcy have agreed to marry. It is when they sit on the hillside dissecting when he first fell in love with Lizzy.
"...Now be sincere; did you admire me for my impertinence?"
"For the liveliness of your mind, I did."
"You may as well call it impertinence at once. It was very little less. The fact is, that you were sick of civility, of deference, of officious attention. You were disgusted with the women who were always speaking, and looking, and thinking for your approbation alone. I roused, and interested you, because I was so unlike them. Had you not been really amiable, you would have hated me for it; but in spite of the pains you took to disguise yourself, your feelings were always noble and just; and in your heart, you thoroughly despised the persons who so assiduously courted you. There -- I have saved you the trouble of accounting for it; and really, all things considered, I begin to think it perfectly reasonable. To be sure, you knew no actual good of me -- but nobody thinks of that when they fall in love."
*sigh*
Hi Tess. Glad you stopped by and no, you don't have to limit to only one favorite scene to be entered in the giveaway. I can't narrow to just one either. The part you quoted is superb and sums up Darcy quite well. I love that Lizzy figured it out.
DeleteThanks, Tess
My favourite scene is when is when they are walking the grounds of Pemberly. Elizabeth and the Gardiners encounter Darcy and then he joins them. When he asks Elizabeth if he could introduce his sister to her and when her carriage is pulling away and she looks back at Darcy are my absolute favorites. <3
ReplyDeleteThose are wonderful scenes, I agree. In the miniseries, I love where she is looking back at him and where he is looking longingly at her. I want that to be one of my drawings. It would probably have to be a collage as the one of him would be a full body drawing.
DeleteThanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
P.s. your drawings are absolutely amazing. You have captured what the story is all about <3
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. You can't imagine how nice that is to hear! That was my goal and your words are very much appreciated. You just made my day!
DeleteOh the calendar is beautiful Janet! The drawings are really really good, and you really have made an amazing piece of art! You have just made my day with these wonderful pictures and giveaway! My favorite moment is most likely Darcys second proposal but the second lovely moment is when Darcy is presenting Georgianna to Elizabeth and he has that amazing smile on his face! And the unexpected meeting at Pemberley where Darcy is totally confused and asks Elizabeth the same question more than once! He is so adorable there! Oh what a lovely giveaway award!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sophia-Elizabeth. I'm so glad that you like the calendar. You made my day with your sweet compliments! :) Ooooh, all of those are wonderful scenes in the miniseries aren't they! I love them too.
DeleteGood luck in the giveaway and thank you for telling me your favorites.
My favorite is when Elizabeth is at the pano calming Georgiana and he looks at her.... yummy
ReplyDeletebought one of your beautiful calendars for my daughter, would love to win one for myself!
Hi Jan. Thank you for getting one of my calendars. I hope that your daughter liked it. Sorry that I couldn't get it to you while she was visiting you.
DeleteI like that scene too. It doesn't get much better than that does it!
Good luck in the giveaway!
What beautiful artwork!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite scene? The chance meeting at Pemberley when Darcy sees Elizabeth & the Gardiners off.
That is one of the scenes from the miniseries that I plan to draw eventually. I loved their chance meeting, but then I guess I love lots of the scenes.
DeleteI'm so glad that you stopped by and commented, Pam and thank you for the lovely compliment.
I'm looking forward to your new book!
My fave version of P and P, I think that Colin is very good at showing the shyness of Darcy :)
ReplyDeleteI have to agree! Thanks for stopping by.
