Richard Armitage did such a fantastic job showing the feelings and emotions written of John Thornton by the author, Elizabeth Gaskell. They were subtle looks but spoke multitudes. I had a tough time deciding on the scene that I wanted to portray because there were so many good ones. I just knew I wanted it to have one of those fabulous expressions. Below is my artistic interpretation of his look when Margaret tells John of her wishes to loan him some of her inherited money to keep Marborough Mills running.
Again, if any of you want to preorder the calendar, it will be for the $10 cost. If you wait to order after the calendar is released, the price will be $12. If you live in the US and want one calendar, I can ship it first class for $4, for a total of $14. If you want more than one, I will ship it priority mail for $6.45 plus the number ordered times 10. (priority mail is cheaper for more than one calendar)
If you live outside the US, first class shipping is $11.50. For one calendar plus shipping it would run $21.50. I will double check that before I bill you. Several have already preordered and I will be contacting you. You can pay by credit card or PayPal. I accept both. Just let me know your preference.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me! I will do my best to answer your questions.
The calendar should be ready to ship sometime in November. Since I am drawing all pictures, it is taking me a bit longer this year.
Thank you for stopping by and I welcome your comments!

ReplyDeleteYou are signed up! Thanks, Nicole, for all your input!
DeleteSo I was trying to be restrained and civilized- both admirable but highly overrated virtues. I say we run with that waterproof shower calendar- or at least laminate the month of Richarduary. I might like a copy of Firthember laminated, too.
DeleteYou are too funny, Nicole! I mean, why be restrained or civilized? That's no fun! I will consider a waterproof calendar or laminated pages! I LOVE Richarduary and Firthember! Cute!
Delete*Sigh!*
ReplyDeleteYou guessed right, Anji. I don't think you ever had any doubt! lol
DeleteWow!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Caitlin! Glad you stopped by and had a look.
DeleteSwoonworthy !
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled you think so, Lory. This whole scene was swoonworthy!

ReplyDeleteI am so happy you think so, Teresita! I had to look it up to see what you said so I learned a new word today! :)
DeleteHe is thinking about me in this pic (deluded woman that I am!)
ReplyDeleteLovely!
That's not deluded. Who wouldn't want to think that? (although I thought he was thinking about me)
DeleteI think you're just expressing what we're all hoping, Ceri!!
DeleteI bet he's thinking, "if only Elizabeth Bennet had met me first."
ReplyDeleteWell done, Janet. He's positively dreamy.
You know, I bet he is too. lol
DeleteThank you, Joy. I'm glad that you approve!
Janet, he looks amazing... Well done. Now I can't wait to see the rest of your calendar!
ReplyDeleteYou make my day, Claudine. Thank you. I'm getting anxious to see the calendar all put together myself. :)
DeleteSent!! I want one picture of those lovely eyes and that tiny smile of RA! I am looking forward to discovering the rest of the men in this calendar!!
ReplyDeleteI got message, Ana, and I will be emailing you.
DeleteI hope the discovery of the rest will meet with your approval. As for this scene, it is one of my favorites in the movie.
Would have been my first choice as Bonus as well. And now, another mystery man waiting in the wings!
ReplyDeleteGood, Debra. I'm glad it is your first choice too. Yes, the other mystery man is waiting for his day of reveal.
DeleteI didn't put a guess down in my comment, but I was pretty sure N&S's Mr. Thornton was one of your extras. :) How could he not be! Great news, Janet! Love your mystery man idea.
ReplyDeleteYou know me too well, don't you Sophia? :) I have been wanting to draw him for some time. There were just so many good scenes! It was tough to narrow down to one. Maybe I will do a full N&S calendar someday!
DeleteVery lovely artwork! Sigh, that jawline and visible neck....
ReplyDeleteNo one will ever be John Thornton like Richard. He has owned the part for the century.
I'm so thrilled John Thornton has joined the venerable Austen leagues in this beautiful calendar project.
Long live literary heroes in cravats!
I really wanted to draw one of the scenes with him in the red cravat, Trudy! I loved that one. I just think I love cravats, period!
DeleteI don't see how anyone could ever outdo Richard as John Thornton. He had every nuance down perfectly. He was definitely going to be included with the Austen men this year.
Thank you for the comments. I'm thrilled you like the art.
::Drools:: I was hoping he was one!
ReplyDeleteWe had had a few conversations that probably gave me away, huh, Rose? He had to be one. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteThat picture is worth getting the calendar. Swoon-worthy!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Brenda! He is swoon-worthy in that whole scene. I can't count how many times I've watched it!
DeleteIt's just beautiful! How you capture the expression in his eyes, on his face, I don't know, Janet, but I love it. Such a gorgeous scene too... swoon worthy indeed! <3
ReplyDeleteI"m thrilled that you think so, Cassandra. Thank you. Yes, it is most definitely a swoon-worthy scene. Who wouldn't want to be looked at like he looked at Margaret?
DeleteHe is my Thornton and my Darcy! Perfect addition! And a lovely way to start my day! ..sigh..
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pic! Congrats!
He will always be Mr. Thornton to me, too, Becky. I agree that he would also make a good Mr. Darcy.
DeleteOh good, that you saw this and liked it as the start to your day! I'm happy that you are pleased with this addition to the calendar. One of them just had to be Richard Armitage as John Thornton.
Just what I had hoped for, Janet! You've captured his expression wonderfully!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it was, Monica. I've been dying to draw him and just haven't. This was a great opportunity to do just that. Thank you for your comments. You've made my day.
DeleteWell, the only guess I made was right. Beautiful rendition.
ReplyDeleteYes, you got it! :) Thank you and I happy you think so!
DeleteWell, the only guess I made was right. Beautiful rendition.
ReplyDeletefantastic job capturing his gorgeousness
ReplyDeletedenise
his eyes! amazing!
DeleteI'm thrilled that you think so, Denise. The eyes are always 'my thing'. They tell so much about a person/character, that I feel I must do my best to capture what they are saying.
DeleteWow I didn't know you could draw! Where have I been! Will definitely be putting in my order!
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy, Tamara! :) I hope you will put in your order. All the men are listed in the post with my pic of Colonel Brandon. Well, that is except for the 2nd mystery man!
DeleteI would like to purchase next year's calendar. I have greatly enjoyed this year's.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you have enjoyed the Peacock Edition. I will send you an email about ordering the 2017 Calendar.
DeleteOH MY!! Looks just like him. Wonderful, Janet!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the whole calendar and especially mystery man #2
