Vignette: Outtake, Elizabeth Bennet’s Diary #4
Shopping with the Darcys
Thanks so much for hosting me, Janet! The Secrets of Pemberley is told
entirely from Mr. Darcy’s perspective. In
the book, Elizabeth’s diary becomes important, and
as a long-time fan of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, I decided to do video entries
for each diary entry I’ll be sharing on the blog tour. I hope you enjoy as
we get a bit of insight on what Elizabeth Bennet felt when she gets a few
moments of privacy with Mr. Darcy after his ill-fated proposal and letter.

Thank you, Rose, for letting me be a part of your blog tour. I wish you much success with your new release. If it is like your other books, it will be a good one. Readers, tell us what you think of the diary entries? Do you just love these videos? I think they are a great and fun idea.
Rose, I hope to see you back for another visit soon.
I think it's a first for me to watch you on video, Rose. You seemed confident to be on camera and a bit shy at the same time (I'm referring to the part where you look down most of the time). Is it the angle where you web cam is located or was there another reason? I'm taking The Lizzy Bennet Diaries as my guide because Lizzy definitely look straight at the camera most of the time.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I enjoyed the diary series. Hope you will include a transcript of the video entries too for those who prefer to read rather than watch.
When I would lower my whole head or look away, I was going with Elizabeth's feelings, as though she were writing in a private diary. I love The Lizzie Bennet Diaries but that Lizzie is aware that she is putting something public out and you'll notice she starts to really measure her words once she's starting to feel differently about Darcy. She has other things to talk about too, which I think helps. This Lizzy was only writing about her feelings--some of which she didn't want to think too much about or admit what they really are. But in general, it was hard for me to remember to keep my eyes up where the camera was and not on the phone where I could see myself, lol. Maybe next time I do these I'll turn it around so I can't see myself!
DeleteLove the diary videos! Congrats on your new book, can’t wait to read it!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think you'll love it!
DeleteRose,
ReplyDeleteCorrect me of I'm wrong but didn't I read an excerpt/snapshot of a scene where Darcy and his mom are cruelly seperated by none other than her husband??
It was penned by your good self and it,along with another scene, received a very heartfelt, if somewhat heated response,(due to the contents on the other scene).
Am I correct in thinking that these formed the basis for this book and are included in it???
I'm looking forward to reading this book and wish you the best of luck with it!!!
Yes, that is the opening scene. You probably read excerpts on Austen Authors. These videos are not in the book at all. The book is entirely from Darcy's point of view. Those who read the rough draft asked for outtakes of Elizabeth's point of view and her diary is important in the story, at one point, so I thought making diary entries would be a good way to convey her feelings. As a big fan of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, I wanted to try videos. I shared a lot of excerpts on Austen Authors and thought doing these videos might whet readers' appetites in a different way. You get hints of some of the things that happen in the book but not much information. I hope you'll give the book a try. I think you'll enjoy it!
DeleteThanks for having me, Janet!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, as always. It was my pleasure.
DeleteThoughtful blog, thanks for posting.
